Attendee Experience
"This retreat was really something special for me. It served as a "mega" therapy session wrapped in nature and community. The small group size helped provide a safe space and closeness to all FOUR grief experts. I am beyond grateful to now have them in my corner moving forward. Certainly gained takeaways that I still reference daily. For me, a favorite element of the retreat was the past, present, and future structure that they created. Upon leaving, I felt reset and encouraged with a better perspective on my daunting future. It's a heavy day but somehow sprinkled with laughter and moments of visiting with others. The retreat felt lighter than I expected, especially considering how heavy and painful our hearts feel." -Shannon

Attending the Grief Retreat was a first-of-its-kind experience for me, after losing three immediate family members within the last two and a half years. During the retreat, I came to understand better that the process of recovering from grief is a journey that is different for everyone. I learned that it’s incredibly important to actively engage in something positive that can help you heal, properly reflect upon what you are going through, acknowledge this difficulty, and give yourself some grace!
I told myself, logically, I knew this before the retreat, as I would talk to friends and family about how I felt. There were, however, too many months that went by, that I felt emotionally alone with nowhere to turn. So, I quickly withdrew into a depression and did not know how to cope further. Focusing too often on the negative talk track that was going through my mind, I rode the wave of “everything is fine.” I’ll push through, go to work, be a responsible wife, mother, and employee, and just get on with it, day after day. But I was really in a difficult spot.
When I was introduced to the team at the Grief Retreat, I felt it was an answer to my prayers! Attended an 8-hour event taking a whole day “just for me” was so healing! The Grief Retreat gave me tools to help, daily. It allowed me to reflect on things that came to mind with the loss of loved ones and so much more. Without getting very personal, believe me when I say, if you are considering attending, register today, for the next retreat. You will be so happy you did! -Jill
